The pressure relief valve, sometimes called safety valve, relief valve or the PRV is used to decrease the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the pressure within the system rises past a certain point to prevent any severe damage to the system . Each PRV has an internal "bar" limit set, once this bar is reached the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
